I have heard people on several occasions compare Asian Spec Cars to American Spec Cars, in all, it is a very nice comparison to say the least, because there is a whole lot of difference between this Two specs, ranging from the Price, Features, Reliability Fuel Efficiency etc.
In this brief article, I will make more reference to Toyota models, basically Toyota Camry and Toyota Corolla. these are the most common Toyota models that we see more often in this Asian and American specs on our roads.
From the Images above, you can see a very huge difference between this Two Cars, which will make you doubt that they’re both same models of the same year, there’s a huge physical difference between this two cars, from the physical appearance and features, the Asian spec models of this camry beats the American spec in a whole lot of ways, I personally like the Asian Spec appearance as a Huge Car Enthusiast. but then, physical appearance won’t cut the deal here as a Nigerian.
Note: it is worthy to note that you can clearly spot differences between these two cars than in the Corolla.
1). Physical Appearance/features: There’s a very distinctive difference in the Physical Appearance of these Two cars, the Asian Spec looks way more appealing to the Eye than the its American counterpart, while the American Counterpart has a more rugged look compared to it.
The headlights too are different, the Type of Alloy wheels, Rear-lights too are not left out.
2). Interior Features: When it comes to the Interior, the Asian Spec also beats it hands-down, only the fullest option XLE V6 can compare to it, It has more sophisticated interior finishing, more options on the dashboard, it is just in another world of its own when compared to its American counterpart.
From the images above, you can see a whole lot of differences between these Cars, the Asian spec has more sophisticated interior, which you only get in the Full option XLE trims, but you can get most of these features That come Standard in Asian spec models. The Asian Specs offer more luxurious feely compared to its counterpart, but back here in Nigeria, we just don’t go for looks and luxury, we go for reliability due to the condition of our economy and the Very beautiful types of Road we have(Sarcasm).
Corolla is unarguably the best selling Toyota Model in Nigeria, due to its Ruggedity, Reliability, Fuel efficiency, Low-cost Maintenance and Cost to Purchase, as such, this article won’t be complete without looking at the differences between American Spec Corollas and Asian Spec Corollas.
Here, the Difference in Physical Appearance isn’t much compared to Toyota Camry, you hardly know the difference from just merely looking at the both Specs when parked side by side.
From the Above Images, you can barely different from the two, but a closer look at them reveals some differences, which I will dissect in two parts, which are:
Physical Features/ Appearance: The first Physical difference is in the headlamps, the lights are quite different from each other.
Another visible difference is in their front grill.
Then the Asian spec Corolla also know as Corolla Altis is a bit smaller than the American Spec.
The wheels too, American wheel base are bigger than that of its Counterpart.
Also, the Rear lights are also different from each other.
This is just to mention a few.
Interior features: As usual, there’s always a huge difference between the two Specs when it comes to their respective interiors, the difference is so huge that you doubt you’re even in a Toyota Corolla.
From the images below, you can see the difference between the Two, the Asian Spec makes use of Pin type Gear, while the American counterpart makes use of the button type Gear, difference in the Steering Types, leather Seats in the Asian Spec compared to normal Upholstery seat types.
This is just to mention but a few features.
In conclusion, there are several differences between the two cars, but it still boils down to individuals on making the right choice between the two.
If you’re the type that appreciates or loves luxury, you can go for the Asian spec models or the fullest option variants in the case of Camry, one of the Cons of the Asian spec is in the conversion from Right Hand drive to Conventional Left hand drive we have here, if it’s not done by Professional mechanics here, then you’re in for a long Romance with the Mechanic Workshop, but in cases that the conversion is done over by certified Toyota Mechanics or from Toyota directly, then you have absolutely nothing to be worried about.
The Asian Spec comes here with lower mileage compared to the American Specs, which have high mileage due to the nature of Size of the USA, although there’s still possibility of getting American spec cars with low mileage, but that happens not in so much of the cases as many of the cars from there we import here are either accidented, flooded or with high mileage and their mileages tampered with, which is very bad.
So some of the things to consider before making a choice between the two now boils down to what you, as an individual needs or wants in a Car, which will definitely help you choose a better fit for you.
